Yet another Wheel backspacing question

The 7.5x17" wheels (with 255/75 tires) on my german sahara have + 44.45 mm offset (1.75 "), marked in the wheels. Isnīt that 5.5" of backspacing ? Are there different wheels for export ?

I bought a set of Pro Comp wheels with 5in BS and they rubbed at full lock. They had 13.5 wide tires. I put a set of Pro Comp 4.5 BS on another Jeep same size tire and they don't rub at all.

But, e.g: o mm offset is 0 mm offset. Backspacing changes with the wheel's width even when offset remains the same.
In Germany, we just have "offset", no one knows "backspacing" ...
