Default Yet another backspacing question

This subject kills me every time. I've searched, but all the posts are asking whether "this or that will fit". I'm sure what I'm building will clear at flex, but I'm not sure how bad the coverage by the stock fender flares will be.

If the stock wheels are 17x7.5 w/6.25" BS, does that mean there's only 1.25" of width on the street side of the mounting pad?
7.5W - 6.25BS = 1.25
If that's correct, then the new wheels (17x9, 4.25" backspacing) will have 4.75" of width on the street side:
9.0W - 4.25BS = 4.75

If I'm understanding this correctly, then the new wheels will stick out 3.5" wider than stock wheels. The Xenon Flat Fenders claim 1.6" more coverage than stock, so I'm still an inch over. (Yeah, I'm paranoid about tickets ).

Anyone else running wheels this size w/Xenons?
Thanks for the help,

Well my rims have the same backspacing as your scenario and I have 12.5" width tires on now. I'd say they stick out only maybe 1" or 1.5" from the current stock fender.
