I had thought about that but I have a shop owner friend of mine that is willing to give me a free d44 rear from another x...I was curious if I could take some of the stuff off my d30 and use it all but the ring and pinion

So you want to use the rear D44 shafts the front D30 housing?

It can be done by cutting the tubes and welding on the C's, but there will be many issues to consider:
1) The C's have to be angled just right, otherwise the handling will suck.
2) The BIGGEST and mist important problem-the cooling of the R&P. The R&P will be rotating at the opposite direction they are meant to rotate at, so the oil will not be distributed correctly and the R&P will fail.
I say go for the used Rubi 44.

Another thing that makes this impossible is the fact that the passenger side axle tubing is twice as long which means youd be short a foot with a rear dana 44. If you wanna save money go figure out how to put 1 ton axles in it.

Just wondering how much could you get a used rubi 44 ? front and rear ? Best like lucky price and the most common pricing ? This is for something I'm looking at doing down the road
