Another thing worth noting that I've learned on this forum: If your battery has side terminals, don't use those for the winch. They can't carry enough current during hard pulls.

WOW! I never would have imagined this!! I have my winch hooked up to the ground bolt on the body, I will be changing that one tonight! I'm sorry about your rig but thank you very much for posting this, I for one have learned a valuable lesson!!
