Winch question??
I hate askig what most of you will think is a silly question.........BUT, can i mount a winch to the stock front bumper or is it advisable to have a aftermarket bumper???

Yep. Several companies make winch plates. Rip your bumper apart, attach the plate, re-assemble the bumper, bolt the winch on - good to go. Personally, I'd just look into an aftermarket bumper if you're going to all that trouble anyway...

lots of people saved the few hundred for that kit, and used a harbor freight universal winch plate. it runs about 40 bucks shipped. here's a guys write-up for it. its very detailed.

Stock bumper for me: I have the Rough Country winch plate; 2 shackles are included. SOLID!

unless you go with the harbor frieght plate the cost of most of the winch plates is as much as a cheaper stubby with an integrated plate. i bought my smittybilt rock crawler with winch mount for 299. and is a lot better looking and stronger than the stock bumper
