go with an 8k winch for about $300 and buy a snatch block. Doubles the pulling capacity.

Besides the hidden winch mod, which is awesome, look at maximus 3.

I just bought a Engo E9000S with controller and remote from Axxis Offroad for $409
I was battling for cheapy but quality winches until I saw the review from offroad magazine where E9000S got very good review. I missed the sale last year, now most websites sell it for 449 without remote.
I found this cheaper price of 439 on eBay's Axxis Offroad but they only will drop the price to 429, telling me the eBay listing fee is the reason so I went to their website and bought there, no tax, free shipping to WA
many good deals are killed by WA sales tax, 9.5%
