Default Winch experts: Buying a used winch- what should I know and check for?

Title says it... I may have a line on a good used winch for a great price. Anything in particular I should look for, other than whether or not it spools in/out?

Thanks
Patman

Great winch, make sure it works, check where it plugs into and isn't corroded.
Good luck!

Make sure the cables arent dry rotted, though they can be replaced if they are. Look for flat spots and bird cages in the cable if it still has steel line on it.
