Default Winch Choice

Am between these two winches. The Superwinch tiger shark or the Smittybilt x20. I am torn because Superwinch has a better reputation but I like the wireless remote with the Smittybilt. I am going with synthetic line. Don't want to spend more than about 500 buck. Don't say buy a more expensive winch. I have not needed one yet but would be nice to have as another option.

After reading a number of reviews, I purchased the synthetic x20 10k. Good warranty on the unit and features for the money. Did read that the wireless can be hit or miss some times, but worst case you go wired.

Was able to use a coupon code at Morris for $50 off a purchase of $500+, so ended up getting it for $499 shipped.

I am assuming you are happy with it. How long have you had it and how many pulls.

X2O 12K here awesome so far. Over a year old many hard pull. Battery in the controller didn't make it through our cold winters but I expected that. I don't mind using the cable.

Great winch so far. There are 5 now in our group no issues so far.

Happy with it so far. It has only been on for about 2 month. Only had the need to use it once in that time.

If I had to choose between superwinch and smittybilt , I would choose Smitty. I see a lot of smittybilt winches on the trails and seems that everybody are happy with their performance. I know this winch has a longer warranty also. Try to check out http://4wheelonline.com/Winches.197542 as they have some good prices on winches. If you want an inexpensive winch, Engo is another good choice.

Is the battery user replaceable.

Yes it is and easy to do. I have the Smittybilt as well and have used it hard. I'd buy it again.

Honestly i have owned three smittybilts. this time i am running a 9.5 cheap 299 special. lets be honest, youll be lucky to get to use it for 2 or 3 good pulls. unless your in the rocks and mud every weekend. i understand some folks want 1500 dollar warns with synthetic line but there is no need for it unless like i said you are out wheeling all the time. alot more care involved with synthetic lines and 1500 dollars for a winch is just crazy for what 90% of us use our jeeps for.
