Their are 2 guys with the smittybuilt xrc and both love them. We used one to help a full sized truck up a hill and it worked fine.

smittybuilt with a lifetime warranty which I have never needed, but I have needed the winch.

For what it is worth, every time the winch was needed was from driver error, not always mine, but others for recovery and one for me taking a bad line.

Thanks Guys I'm going read up on the Warn 8k and Superwinch. Can I mount the winch plate on a factory bumper or do I really need to upgrade my bumper to mount a winch?

The factory bumper doesn't have a way to mount a winch -- what some people have done is to pick up an inexpensive universal winch plate and modify their bumper to accommodate. I believe they've mounted the plates to the frame rails, not the bumper. Search here for the writeups people have done, here is one and here is another. Benefit is they're inexpensive, downside is time and skill required to roll your own mounting setup.

Some choose to go with a winch plate designed for the JK stock bumper; I believe they mount somehow in place of the stock hooks and/or use existing holes. Quadratec is pretty good about having copies of the install manuals on the product pages so you could see how different ones are mounted. Benefit is you likely don't have to do much cutting/fabricating, downside is they're expensive.

If you don't roll your own with a universal plate, consider something like a Rugged Ridge XHD bumper instead of a JK specific mounting plate. They cost just a little bit more than a JK specific winch plate but give you a decent bumper with D rings.

i've always gone with you get what you pay for. its easy to see the top ones are warn, milemarker, superwinch and so on. so i told my self to start saving then i see a superwinch for 400$. i didn't even think i just bought it. so i'm going to find out what happens when you buy a good name but go with the cheapest one. lp8500 by superwinch..............any comments

The verdict is in the motor in mine is wasted (full of water), I never even had it under water, superwinch knows that there is a problem with even rain water getting through the top terminals and locking up the motors They told me about this and offered to send me a new motor, I got no answer when I asked who was going to cover the labor I only used it once in the 3 months that I owned it to pull out a bush at home. I am returning it to Qtec this week and I am getting Smittybilt comp8. If you didnt install your lp8500 yet, I would put it back in the box and return the P.O.S. There (superwinch) customer service sucks to
