I'm running 12 JKU sport stock with 17/59 springs, 33x12.5x16 Goodyear Duratrac wheels (or whatever the specs are) and have no issues. I had some rubbing with the air dam but ripped that ****er off.

I'm looking at upgrading the front bumper to one that's ~70 lbs, and possibly replace the back bumper with one of the more lighter options. Will I need an actual lift kit like the TF 2.5" ones, or can I just get some puck spacers that are 1-1.5" and call it a day? I'm not sure if pucks are meant to hold more than stock weight or if I'd have to worry about them crushing.

I don't do any off-roading at the moment but if I did it would be beginner trails.

If I were you I would throw some spacers/budget boost under there and call it a day. My old man has a 2" BB with aftermarket bumpers and a winch,with no issues. If your itch gets bigger and you need a lift later down the road, then your only out a few bucks..

33s your good to go . spacers even better but i did not and my mid bumper is heavy up front 130 no rub issues at all no sag , dont toss money at it till you know exactly what you want from it (my 2 cents ) i dont want a lift / dont need it i dont do the rubicon trail it looks like a hell of a good time though

ps. if your adding a winch you might want a 1/2 spacer up front ( budget boost good option )

You can fit a 33" under a JK bone stock with a little rubbing possible, if you add weight to it like you mentioned the factory coils will not support much more weight and you could have worse rubbing. A small coil lift would be your friend in that situation!

IF you don't want to start the domino effect, some simple coil spacers will be fine up front to compensate for extra weight. A 70 pound bumper should have minimal affect on lift height and you should loose 1/4"-3/8" of actual height in the front.

that bumper shouldn't have much impact on your ride height. I would recommend a leveling kit or a spacer kit. Nothing too tall just a .75 or 1inch.

IMO, I like the Rubi take off's and spacers as an option, you can sometimes get them cheaper than a BB.

Im in the same boat as you OP, after some research im gonna try out the EVO manufacturing leveling kit 235$. It comes with their 2" plush coils in the front and small .75 spacer in rear to take out the factory rake and give a touch of boost for my new bumpers. I emailed EVO and they said I don't need anything else to run it. From what Ive read everyone that has it loves it. Rock Krawler has a puck lift with quick discos also for like 199. Like others said if you wanna change down the road you can sell it and upgrade. I have the 15" MB TKO rims with 33" Duratracs and I haven't rubbed yet, however I haven't been offroad yet either. Only had my JKU 3 weeks.
