Why is it more expensive to buy 80' 3/8" Spydura Synthetic Rope then 100' of the same rope? makes no sense to me.

Seems like good sense to buy the 100', cut off 20', splice an eye in the end of your now 80' line, splice 2 eyes in your 20' winch extension and there you've got two items for the price of one.

Where are you seeing these prices?? Some sites may be selling knock-offs if you're accidentally comparing across sites.

The only place I can find the scenario you're talking about is 4wd.com, and that's because the 80' is outrageously overpriced ($321.99) on their site. Everywhere else the 80' is $10-$20 cheaper than the $100.

go to Amazon and do a search. I can get 100' for under $218 shipped I can get 80' for $240 shipped best price. The price matching vendors go by this.

Why does it matter? Is 80' better than 100'? Is there some applications where 100' is too much (won't fit on winch reel)?

That's not necessarily true. I bought a Warn M-8000s on Amazon the other day for $803, but the lowest the price-matching vendors (I spoke to several) would go was somewhere around $840. All of the price-matching vendors have disclaimers about their price-matching that says they can refuse to price-match a price if they want to, and I've never heard of any of them basing their prices on Amazon prices.

In any case, if you can get the 100' for cheaper than the 80' and that's what you want, good find!

I have contacted Rockridge, Northridge, and 4wd.com and they have all said they would match Amazon's lowest price on the line. I aint making it up. Amazon uses multiple vendors to supply the best prices.

I want 80' not 100' I don't want to have to splice it.
