I have the BF Goodrich Mud Terrain T/A tires but I test drove a Jeep with some much wider pro-comps seen below. I have to say, my BFG's are insanely loud.

I've heard some not so nice things about the pro-comp brand (such as being bolt on) but I have to say I really liked their tires a lot over my loud as F BFG's.

These are the procomps.



I also really liked these aftermarket fender flares if anybody knows who makes them



So why are the BFG's so loud?

I don't find my BFGs loud at all. How many miles are on yours? I have about 50k on mine now and they are still very quiet compared to the cooper ST MAXX I removed.

Are you sure your tires aren't cupping? A bad shock can cause that. So can worn suspension parts. All of this is exacerbated if tires aren't rotated regularly.

My experience with the BFG T/A is that they are among the quietest all terrain tires.
What pressure do you use?

IMO, they are better than the Pro Comp.

As had already been said, try looking for other reasons.

I ride with the max tire pressure, they fill them all the way up when I get my oil changed. They have less than 10k on them, they are not cupped and they have always sounded really loud. I have them rotated every oil change. These are the mud terrains and not the all terrains. This is also my second set and the previous set sounded the same way. pictured below.



they have that "wah wah wah wah" sound when you get up to higher speeds that you would normally hear on a giant monster truck.

In your first post you referred to All Terrain, and received the replies accordingly.
Mud Terrains are another story, they're all relatively loud.
I have no experience with the BFG Mud Terrains.

As for the pressure, the recommended psi is usually way too high. I'd use 30 psi, or, better still, check the optimal pressure by a chalk test.

You have looked at the tread patterns on both tires and still have to ask that question? Aggressive tires with more void area between the tread blocks are noisier than less aggressive tires. Just the nature of the beast. I bet if you throw a set of street tires on you will be complaining about how noisy those procomp all-terrains are in comparison.

BTW, I replaced a set of BFG AT's with a set of procomp all-terrains (the regular at's, before those xtremes were released) and had no issues with them. Similar trail performance, and a bit better onroad performance, especially through winter weather.
