Just shredded my p/side front D30 on a snow run yesterday. Drove 35 miles down the mtn to the dealership. Hoping the warranty covers it without any questions!
I'm running BFG KM2 33"

rubi dana44 snapped outer axle twice running on 35s, some rock climbing...
the first one I bought from dealer and when I brought the broken back they refunded the total including joint. Second time they changed it under waranty also but I would not push it for 3rd time so I installed alloy's

I have a Rubicon 4dr with Dana 44's front and rear on stock tires and stock suspension.
Well for me the first time was the front driver side..... I will take the blame because I was locked and manuvering through some pretty tight trail in the trees, Basically the ear on the inner shaft snapped off and everthing went to ratpoop from there...
Got both fronts fixed under warrenty because after pulling the driver axle and using 3 wheel drive to get off the trail I blew a cap on the passenger side and it marked the ear on the passenger outer axle pretty good...
So after replacing both front axles all my buddys started accusing me of wheeling like a grandma...... I since only used the front locker when I absolutly had to, and took all obstacles very slowly and technically....
That brings me to my last whelling trip....... yes, driving like a grandma !! Anyways I still managed to break the front passenger inner and outer, Basically sheared the ears off both...... so once again we pulled the axle and tried to get to civilization in 3wd..... got 15 min down the trail and wham... that was when everyone decided to have an early lunch, start a fire and cook some smokies while myself and my winchman (bestfriend) pulled the second axle and got back home in 2wd.
Went to the dealership for warrenty work but this time it was a different story....... they made me pay a portion of the labour, $250.00 and they once again replaced both fronts...... I have now noticed a bit of a sudder or vibration from the drivetrain upfront........ worried I may have damaged the diff somehow..... basically I am very nervous about wheeling now unless I have the cash handy to replace both fronts out of my pocket..
The plan is to order superior axles front and back and keep the OEM'S for trail spares.....
I like to think that I was very carefull and tried my best to baby the axles the best that I can..... I also have a friend that also has a Rubicon and he has torn both his fronts apart also

havent broken my D44. but will say that ive been running 37's with stock shafts for awhile now, wheelin' every weekend up slick mud covered hills with both lockers on with pedal all the way to the floor, slow crawlin on rocks, flyin through soft sand and barreling into deep ass mud pits. and have not had one problem with my stock front D44 shafts. all i did to em was tack weld the caps.

How much stronger are afermarket cro-mo axles -vs- stock?
I have a 2010 Sahara 4dr w/ front D30 running 35"s getting regeared right now....shop offered me to replace axles with cro-mo for $700 parts and labor. I'm wondering if i should do this for insurance
btw...I have the same kind of friends that put 'Rubi-can't' on your jeep...
