Default Who has gone from 35" to 37" and why??

THis is the only decision holding me up. My wheels, fenders, bumpers, etc. are all here and paid for but I can't decide if I need the Rancho Long Arm and 37"s or a nice 3" kit and 35"s. Can some of you who have made the jump tell me what was behind your decision? I have seen pictures where 37s look way too big and some where they look just fine. The last thing I want is to spend money on a nice 3" lift and decide to go 37 because whatever I do I want to do right......long arm and all.

Thanks!

Good question... you can always go with a 3" with 35"s now. When/if you want to move up to 37"s you can either add a 1" spacer or get some new fenders, i.e. Xenon or PureJeep... and run 37"s on a 3" lift.

I went the 3" route with 35"s for now so I don't have to regear right now, the 4:10's are not bad with the 35"s but would not want to run them with 37"s.

Good luck with your decision, it's a hard one...

I went from 35's to 37's. I wanted/needed more ground clearance. I have the 3" Black Diamond Lift + the 1" M.O.R.E. body lift. I trimmed 1.5" off the stock Rubicon sliders, and about 1" off the pinch seam in the rear wheel well. I also sectioned about a foot off each end of my front bumper to keep my tires from rubbing on it. Other than that I can stuff the tires fully and the rear barely rubs, and the front slightly rubbed the inside of the fenders, but I added a .75" spacer yesterday and fixed that.

6" lifts are the best lift for 37"s.

Then they don't rub.

if i had a buck for everytime you've suggested a 6" lift.........

sorry for the hijack. i'm planning on working my way up from the 3" and 35's and see if i need the 37's later. 37's would be nice but can't see that it would be very practical on a dd. well, at least for me.

I went from 35's to 37's after finding that the 35's didn't give me the ground clearance I wanted. I added an additional 1" spacer up front and trimmed the inner fender a little, and cut the front bumper. In the rear I trimmed about 2" off the rear pinch seam at a 45 angle. The rear rubs the plastic fender liner a little, but no damage is done so I am living with it. The 37's also make a big difference in being able to "roll" over obstacles because the tire's approach angle is better. If I had it to do over again I would definately start with a 4-5.5" lift. (I did not say T-flex 6" longarm because FRDesign did, and it's not available yet). Around town there's really not much noticable difference in the 35's and the 37's. Going up a mountain or on the freeway, there is a noticable drop in power. It will still do 70 on the highway though so, again, I am living with it. I would regear if I had the cash, but there are other things I want to buy first. good luck with your decision.

I plan on moving up to 37's after my 35's wear out. I have alreay regeared to 5.13's (I have the 6 sp). I personally think the 37's look perfect on the Unlimiteds.

I plan on going to 37's too, after my 35's are done. No cash to upgrade gears yet. Plus I'd like to build a D44 for the front.

pulmano1, how do you like the 5:13's with the 6spd and 35's? I can't deside betwwen thse and 4:88's. How far off is your speedo. I drive ALOT, and don't want to give Jeep any extra miles off of my warrantee.

I think the 5.13's are a little much for the 35's (biggest complaint is highway rpms), but would be great for the 37's. If you drive alot, I would prob go with the 4.88's. My speedo is off about 3 mph (with my GPS). I went with 5.13's b/c I thought it gave me the best option based on mostly local driving, knew I was eventually go 37's, and it crawls like a champ.

The gears won't change your speedo on the JK, but tires will. The bigger tires you put on your JK, the less mileage will read on your odometer. So you will not be giving any mileage up if you put on bigger tires or go with deeper gears.
