Default The best

In my opinion anything made in the USA is a great choice. Stay away from cheap off shore gears particularly made in China. Superior gears used to be made in China but currently are all made in the USA I believe, this is a big question some believe that nothing is forged in the USa and that the USA stuff really comes from Italy.... Korea China make most gears and are pretty crappy, there are russian gears out there too!

Superior and Yukon are the best. I have had them both and broke them both! I hear Richmond & G2 are decent.

So here are some suggestions:

1. MADE IN USA ONLY
2. Make sure they are heat treated and Cryo'd
3. Don't fall for "Assembled in the USA"
4. 8620 steel ONLY don't settle for less!
5. Extra lapping is a plus... and hopefully tested before shipped

HOPE THAT HELPS!!!

For the price of the gears and install, assuming you are not doing it yourself, you could get a Mopar axle with ring and pinion already in. Even better would be to buy the whole axle from someone who has swapped theirs rather than just the gears.

JUst do this! good suggestion on a looking for built rubi axles too. If I were you I would add the front rubi first and then the rear or build up your rear.

he can't use those... if he had a rubicon then he would already have 4.10s. so he obviously has an x or sahara. That means he has a Dana 30 in the front and a different D44 ring and pinion in the back.

He needs to find someone that has an 07 x or sahara that had a towing package or automatic. Make sure it has 4.10s. There are many around. Like others said get a set from someone who upgraded. I had 4.10s in my X and went to 5.13s. I gave the gears to a friend of mine for free. If I had sold them I was going to ask $150 for them. They only had like 15k miles on them. The stock ones are Dana Spicer... made in USA and comes stock.

jack the rear wheel up put the transfer case in neutral and put a white out dot on the tread of your tire and on your pinion. count how many times the pinion turns for the tire to go around a full time.

i.e. if it takes 3 and 3/4 turns to go around once it is a 3.73. If you don't want to mess with it just call the parts dept at your dealership monday and give them your VIN. They can tell you. That Sahara is probably 3.21s or maybe 3.73. depending on tranny and options.
