Wheels-35" tires - odds & ends
Ok, 2nd try at this. I posted a fairly extensive post that didn't show up for some reason (operator error???)
Here are some things I have found with mounting 35's with no lift. I ordered the Method Racing Fat 5 17" with 4.7 BS. 35" Nitto Trail Grapplers and a few other goodies to start. I was too excite to put on the wheels so I have yet to install my lift (Back ordered). Here are my findings and thoughts.
1. The Tires will rub the front spoiler and Rear section of the Rubicon Rock Rails. I trimmed the front Spoiler on the lower corners and the rear rock rails about 1/2". The Passenger side is back about 1/8" (factory mount holes off). This will be corrected with the install of the M.O.R.E. steps. They will rub the fenders with 3 or more people or a heavy cargo load and mild dips/bumps. For street use, they're ok. Moderate flex of the suspension will rub.
2. The tires only rub the fenders with heavy flex. When I drive alone, there is no issues on the road. With another adult and 7yo child, I get rubbing on heavy dips/bumps.
3. M.O.R.E. side steps. These are nice. Can be seen however are not as obvious as tubular side steps and can be removed easily. They retract via spring load and my daughter loves them. The fronts are direct bolt on. The rears will require a hole to be drilled in the pinch seam and the floor board. I am also using a 1" aluminum tubing for the rear bolt mount just to reinforce the step. I originally spray painted which is already chipping. I removed the steps since I had to trim the rock rails and now having the steps powder coated to match the rock rail.
4. The lift. I originally chose the Old Man Emu kit. I am a fan of OME as I had their goodies on my Land Rover. I liked everything about the kit except it required cutting the lower control arm months on the axles. If you are off by as. Little as 2mm, you're done. Alignment correction would be a challenge after that. I returned the kit and ordered a 3" Full Traction Ultimate Kit which is currently on back order. Thus why I am running 35's now with no lift.
5. AEV ProCal. This thing is by far the easiest thing I have ever used or done on a vehicle. Easier than checking the oil level. Literally set the dip switches, plug in and you're good. I will say that I did not set the tpms until after about 60 miles. My tpms light didn't come on immediately. Once it did, I plugged in the aev ProCal and it was gone. I chose "0" psi. As for the speedo, my nitty trails (35") actually measure 34.25" at 36 psi. Checked my speedo with a gps. It is 1mph higher than actual.
6. Spare tire carrier and 3rd light. I used the rugged ridge spare tire carrier. Simple, clean and good fit and finish. I also used the Delta 3rd brake light kit which looks pretty good as well.
7. Teraflex exhaust extension ( getting ready for the lift). This went on easy just as they advertise. If I run into issues with the extensions, I will order the age y pipe. So far all is good.
8. Fox steering stabilizer. This is a nice, much heavier duty than stock unit and controls well. Figment needed to be modified a bit. The bushings needed to be trimmed at the axle end. You will also need to measure and split the difference for proper positioning as well as reposition the tie rod mount for diff clearance. Once on, it is good. I think you can see the repositioning in the pic.
Feel free to ask questions. I will post a write up and picks of the lift when I get it.

Does the rugged ridge spare tire carrier reinforce the tailgate? Or will there still be issues down the road because of the weight of the tire? Could you post a link to the one you used?

Sorry! Rampage products, not rugged ridge! I looked at too much "stuffage". My minds a muddle mess with the names.
I am anticipating hinge wear only because I have seen other posts. I plan on the Teraflex hinges. I don't want a bumper/tire carrier. I fly everywhere and in/out of the gate to the point that I think opening and closing two things every time will get on my nerves. So far, it's good. I don't slam my doors either. I close it firmly. :d

CFA, I nearly ordered the aev black pintlers as well. I like things different and couldn't find any pics o jeeps with the methods. I like them. My only complaint....l they are not hub centric.
