LOL!!! Sorry JKJeff, but I don't think anyone here was "attacking" you per se and there certainly isn't any hostility coming from me. However, if you're going to start spreading FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt) about a product, I would expect nothing less than for you to be backing it up with proof and facts and not just "opinions" that you claim to be based on "a belief structure founded in science."

You are right the .25 inch difference is nominal when calculating the increase in stress. Get off my back. Agree to disagree on this point.
LOL!!! Sorry, but the FUD you were trying to spread was simply wrong and I think people needed to know it. And, so long as this is my forum, I will do whatever it takes to keep baseless opinions in check.

I haven't said that people who run spacers are stupid or cheap so I'm having trouble understanding the nature of your hostility toward me. Run em if ya got 'em.
As I said before, there is no hostility coming from me and this certainly isn't personal. But, if you're going to make a statement like "wheel spacers are a really bad idea", you had better be prepaired to back it up with more than just opinions.

Ummm, last time I checked, I don't have any sponsors that manufacturer wheel spacers. But, you can believe whatever you want if it makes you happy

I know a few folks that use spacers on their TJ's, they go through bearings pretty quick.

What size tires are they running? I put 38s on my superduty and they ate bearings like crazy along with everything else. If you put a lot of stress on the suspension parts it will wear faster. Spacers are only one part of the total equasion. Add in the weight of new larger tires and you will have issues. Pay to play. Either way, there is no way to run larger/wider tires with out spacing them out from the Jeep either with wheel spacers or spacing them out with a different offset wheel. End result is the same, a happy end user with a cool looking capable jeep that will wear out faster than a mall cruzer.

I have heard a lot of people sort of "complain", for lack of a better word, about the +6" of the JK over the TJ. I personally haven't run into that narrow a trail yet, but has anyone that has the spacers on, and tires that are now outside the fenders had any problems with the width of their JK?

Depending on the trails you ride on, would determine clearance issues. I am running the 1.5" spacers increasing my width 3 total inches. I have not been on any trails in a long time that I did not have less than 3 inches to spare. I know I should not have issues with the slight increase. Aftermarket wheels would be the same since most have less BS than factory and I have not heard of anyone complaining personally.

i wheeled the crap out of some ebay spacers on my TJ for years. the extra width was beneficial to me, where narrower-tracked vehicles would scrap sides on ruts and cracks, i could put a tire on either side. never had any bearing problems, hub problems, wheels falling off or any of that crap.

i've got spidertrax on the way for the JK, and i'll keep them until i get back to america and get big-assed tires on 16" wheels, with adj. backspacing. i will then make the determination on whether or not i still want them on. i'm partial to the "squat" look.
