Ok yeah I'll have to look into down sizing the wheel. Agian we are myth busting because all I have been told is that you can't go back down in size on the rim. If I can I'm all about putting 17's on. Thanx

As much as it pains me to agree with Dirtman, because he is a know it all a$$hole (his words, not mine), I do agree with the thought of going to smaller wheels. I just ordered 16" procomps to replace my 17" stocks. Decision was based on ride quality and cost. Wheels and tires together saved me about $250 over the same tires and wheels in 17".

I don't want to argue with anyone but when I bought my jeep it had 18x9 wheels and 35s. I wish they were 17s but unless someone wants to trade straight across I'm not gonna spend the money to down size. My tires wear evenly and I haven't been at any sort of disadvantage off road because of my 18s. I air down to 12 most times and haven't had any problems.

Well, he got his answers, plus relevant info.

A 9" wide wheel will work fine with a 12.5" wide tire.

And, he learned that load range E tires are designed for very heavy loads instead of for 5k-6k lbs jeeps.

And, he learned he can run as small as a 15" wheel if he wants to save some money on tires and wheels.

The thread got muddled with a few misunderstandings about tire design and load ratings, and how they affect performance and cost, but the OP still got his answers.

He did get his answer, amongst a flood of opinions on stuff he never asked about. Typical forum stuff, I just had to laugh a bit over it. lol
