Default Wheel questions

I've searched the whole forum and haven't had luck, just mixed reviews.

1) I just ordered 33x12.5x17 Falken wildpeaks to go on the stock rims. 12.5" vs a 7.5" rim would be okay? I've seen yay and nay everywhere so I need clarification on this.

2) I also got 1.5" wheel spacers too. My JK just has 1" coil spacers in the front and I plan to trim the pinch seam in the back. Besides those, I should expect little rubbing yes?

Thanks for your input.

Check with the tire manufacturer to see what wheel with they recommend.

Approved Rims - 8.5 - 11.0

Can they be mounted on the narrow stock rims? Yes.
Will your installer actually mount them? Don't know, ask.
Will you have any driveability issues? Probably not.
Can you get a 'definitive' answer? Absolutely not.

Seems like plenty of people on here run stock wheels with larger tires and lifts. I'm sure if it wasn't possible or unsafe then they wouldn't do it.

Totally agree with the approved rim size. Sidewalls will definitely have a large bubble effect with 7.5's. When you have that narrow of a rim on a 12.50 width tire you might notice handling issues. A little more wandering between lanes from sidewall flex even at proper PSI.

I'm a mechanic myself so I can mount them in the shop.

I'm thinking that it would be okay to mount them on the stock rims for now and then get wider (9") rims eventually when a great deal comes up.

Thanks Dan and nthinuf!

One more thing...The tires are coming in tomorrow and the spacers won't come in until Friday...Would it be okay to ride on the new shoes for now until the spacers come?

If I read right around here, I would expect rubbing at full turn yes? I have a smittybilt stinger up front so I'm not worried.

Thanks for any inputs

You will be fine with 12.50's on the factory wheels but I would wait on the spacers to mount the wheels
