I say go with a Kevlar paint job and say good bye to the dings and scratches no matter the color.

Black hoods are for steaks.
When you look at a color, you see that color because it is the only color in the spectrum NOT absorbed by the object. The rest of the colors are absorbed. Black absorbs all color so it is essentially the lack of color while white absorbs no color. It reflects them all which is how a prism works when bending rays into separate colors, all those colors are already contained in the light.

Heat (Infra Red waves) is just outside the visible light range, but what you said works in the IR range exactly the same.

Preferably glossy black, so they don't stick to the hood...

The exterior paint is without a doubt going to be considerably hotter than the inside cabin. Look, I'm not arguing with you about this. There is no doubt that a black vehicle will be a certain amount hotter than a lighter colored one. It is entirely up to the person buying the vehicle to decide if it is right for them. I suggest they go to a car dealership on a really hot day and specifically ask to test drive the all black car that's been sitting directly in the sun all day. Either it bothers them or it doesn't.

This, however is good up to a certain degree (pun intended...).
In a very hot climate, black can become intolerable.
It's not just the paint layer. The steel underneath, in fact the whole body gets hotter, and so is everything inside.
The AC cools the air. Air is a lousy heat conductor, so it takes quite long for the cooler air to absorb heat from all that hot mass, and it takes quite longer for the AC to be felt. In extremely hot weather, it wouldn't take long before you re-paint a black hard-top Jeep, or replace it.
In cooler weather, it would be much less of a problem.

I wonder how resistant it would be to scratching and pin stripping. I just love the "no glare" dull finish.

Well it would have to be easier to take care of then the factory dull finishes they are putting out. You have to use a special soap, sponge and dry cloth to take care of it or it starts to polish up the factory dull finishes.

It all begins with personal taste. If women won't give up an aching pair of very high heels for looking better, than those of us who like black can tolerate more heat, dust or scratches...

yeah that's what i was thinking, black on black is sooo prettttyyyyy but thought scratches might be a pain! I was hoping someone would say nah its not a problem and can hardly see the scratches lol
Temp is not really a problem for me as im in Melbourne so it changes from hot to cold within hours of the same day
If i can find 2 colour's that compliment each other really well i'd go for it!!! The only problem is finding which 2 hahaha
