Using Mobile 1. Haven't really noticed any difference in performance.

I have run Mobil 1 in everything I have owned for almost 20 years. I have never had a problem with it so I am not inclined to switch until I see a major break-through from someone else.

There are currently two types.
Amsoil XL (XLF) Group III/ Hydrocracked. This basically means the crude oil used is refined to such a state, that the manufacturer considers this a synthetic oil.
Amsoil (ASL) Group IV/ PAO . This is a poly-alpha-olefin grade IV base stock. This is more along the lines of a true synthetic oil.

I use royal purple. MY cousin used to own a performance shop and always recommended RP. I wish he hadn't sold the shop so I could get it for much cheaper than Autozone.

Mobile 1.

I have used Castrol Synthetic in all of my Volvo's and have been pleased. I just changed to the Mobile 1 in the Heep and still measuring the effects. Not that impressed thus far.

I use the "real" Mobil 1 with the gold colored cap in my other vehicles. I have not switched to synthetic in the new Jeep but will with the next oil change.

Royal Purple in the diffs

tried it once... liked it... after a summer of abuse it still came out purple... thats good in my books.

MT 90 in the tranny, gonna switch to synthetic in the engine. i bought the service package from the dealer for oil changes, now that it is done, i am going to synth next change... probably RP aswell
