Default What The!? Springs that just don't make sense. Any help appreciated.

Ok, so I know that the spring issue has been beaten up, and i have a follow up to all this.

Background: I have a base base base 2 door Wrangler Sport with soft top, no tow package.

I got stock Rubicon Shocks and springs from a 4 door Rubicon with hard top and tow package from a friend who did the full 3.5" coil lift. Yes, I was anticipating a little stiffer spring......

Here is the RIDICULOUS rundown:

My barebone JK has the following: 13/55 springs as noted. ((58004255AA Rear / 52126313AC Front)

When I looked at the shocks (Rubi Red) and springs I noticed they are 12/53 (68004453AA Rear/ 68004452AA Front)

How does this work out? In essence, it is worthless to put these on my Jeep isn't it?

I am not venting ( ok maybe a little), but I was not expecting less stiff springs from a 4 door rubicon with tow package and hard top, than a 2 door base jk.....Or am I reading these wrong?

[B]Edit: My Jk is a 2013. His was a 2013, but it only had 7,000 miles.

is the rubicon a 10A version? They have different part numbers then standard rubicons and that might explain it. what are the standing measurements on the new ones?

I have never seen numbers that low.

Wow, I wasn't aware they even had a "12" spring out there. Never saw a 52 either. That's got to be light weight. My 2 door soft top came with 14/55's. Surely if that was from a 4 door with hard top and tow, there is some mistake. My JKU sport w/ hard top and tow had 17/58's which resulted in a mild lift for my 2 door.

Maybe measure those new rubicon springs?

I would say take before and after measurements and just swap the springs and shocks and see what happens? at worse all your loosing is a couple hours of your time. best you gain some lift and get better shocks.

I wouldn't waste my time I think you will not see much of a difference. You will need at least an 18/59 set to see a difference. Obviously if you can get a stiffer set the more you will notice. I have a set of front springs that I will give you but I accidentally ripped the tags off and I have no idea what number they are. My rears were 58 so maybe they are a higher number.

Check this as well, the jeeps that came stock with a bumpers like the AEV on the 10th edition is the biggest difference. They added weight and added stiffer springs to bring the ride back up.

Go to a dealer that has one or similar with the heavy factory bumpers, take pics of those tags.

And, this does not apply to dealers that beefed up the jeeps on their own. It's usually aftermarket so it doesn't apply.

Another weird issue. I bought a set from a guy with a rubicon he had the 18/59's on his. I got home home and realized I had the 17/59's.
I have a sport 4dr, with hardtop only and we have the same rear springs. So it's all based on the equipment it has on it from the factory.
Like the others said, check the numbers, get the highest numerical value.

The 10A rubi owners have reported 06-09 springs. 12/13 came on my base base base 2010 sport with 55's rear. I bought "what's leftover" from a guy who bought from a guy with a sport. They turned out to be 17/59's. A close friend of mine bought some from a 4dr rubi hard top tow package (original owner) that were 18/58's.

It's a crapshoot IMO. I've yet to see a 100% logic line drawn across the years, models, and options. There is a trend, but no 100% black and white.

The 10th anniversary Rubicon springs part numbers start with 68. There's no way a four door Rubicon would be on standard 12/53 springs. It would be a low rider.
