Default what rim/tire size w/ my setup, need opinions

Just trying to plan ahead a little. All my parts are almost in. I'm going to run 2.5" teraflex BB, 1.5" wheel spacers, and 1" body lift. I would like to go with 35's and at least 12.5" wide. My question is what size rim should I go with...15x9, 15x10, 16x9, 17x9...? I'd love to hear some opinions. I think 17x9 would look best but a 15x10 would spread the tire out more for a wider look. Would I get a bumpier ride on 15x10's due to the large sidewall? Also I'm looking for something black powder coated, possibly cragar 397s. It also seems like more tires are available in a 15" rim, not so much 17". any help?

If you run an aftermarket wheel, the 1.5" spacers should not be necessary. Most aftermarket wheels have plenty of backspacing already. We use the 1.5" spacers to fit larger tires with stock wheels. You can use them if you want though...
17x9 would be my choice.

Well, best rule of thumb for width is around -4". If the tire is 12/12.5 go with an 8, and the like. As far as the diameter of the wheel, keep in mind that the 15s might not fit around the caliper. But the larger diameter you go, the more money you spend. If I were to change from my stock Sahara setup, I'd pick up 33x10.5s with 16x7 rims. But I'm of the thinking that the more rubber between your rims and the rocks, the better.

If you are getting aftermarket wheels you shouldn't need 1.5" wheel spacers. For a 12.5" wide tire I would recommend getting wheels with 4.75" to 4.25" backspacing which will be close to stock wheels with 1.5" spacers (6.25" stock BS - 1.5" spacer = 4.75"). Of course backspacing is just one factor. You have to consider the wheel width too.

15" wheels and tires are going to be cheaper than larger varieties. The larger side wall on a 35x12.5x15 can give you a softer ride both on and off road (when aired down), but less lateral stability when corning on road. If you are going with a 35x12.5 tire the 17x9 wheel would good overall performance both on/off road.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm going to a local truck shop tomorrow and ask what they think as well. Unless they give me a good reason I think I'm going with the 17x9 cragars. They have a 5 backspacing so with the spacers would put me at a 3.5, which I would like, I want the tires outside the fenders. As for exactly which tire not sure yet. I want an aggressive look but good on the road too. Size is 35x12.5. Any ideas that won't put a huge hole in my wallet? Anyone heard any good reviews? I was thinking maybe Baja claw radials or Super swamper radial SSR but they both seem pricey and not sure about on the road. Any opinions?

Yeah just get a wheel with proper backspacing and forget about the $$$ spacers.

There's a thread over on jeepforum about 15" wheels on a JK. Here's the link: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=397126
The tires on mmccurdy JK are 35x13.5 on 15x8 rims. That's what I'm doing as soon as I get everything.

You can find pretty good prices on the Mickey Thompson tires, especially the MTX. Super Swampers are cool, but expensive. The Trxus MT will ride better on the road than most MT's but all swampers are heavy and hard to balance. I like my Hankook MTs. They are inexpensive and ride good on the road. I just wish I had held out for 37's.
