with 4:88 and auto with 35's my computer is stating 12.8-13.2 . I am not sure how accurate the computer is though. I know I enjoy the extra power the new gears gave me. I work on a mountain top and still lock out OD more than I wish. I think I would do 5:13's if I had the choice to do it again. I tend to push it alittle, my other drive is a Porsche.:" Some times I ferget what Im drivn."
just doesn"t quite corner the same

4.10's with 255/75/17 (stock Rubi tires)
55 MPH = 1631 RPM
60 MPH = 1779 RPM
65 MPH = 1927 RPM
70 MPH = 2075 RPM
75 MPH = 2224 RPM
80 MPH = 2372 RPM

4.88's with 315/70/17
55 MPH = 1811 RPM
60 MPH = 1976 RPM
65 MPH = 2140 RPM
70 MPH = 2305 RPM
75 MPH = 2469 RPM
80 MPH = 2634 RPM

5.13's with 315/70/17
55 MPH = 1904 RPM
60 MPH = 2077 RPM
65 MPH = 2250 RPM
70 MPH = 2423 RPM
75 MPH = 2596 RPM
80 MPH = 2769 RPM

I think I'll be going with the 5.13's.
ok ok.... autos autos autos.....
i wish someone had this same info for a 6 speed... with 37's... (not metric)
one with 4.88 and one with 5.13s so i can get a warm fuzzy for
the rpm i like (or could live with)

i dont want to run 3300+rpm at 75mph like i've heard someone say they run with 5.13 on 35's (and a STICK SHIFT...)

work with me people... i've seen bump after bump for THIS info..
(sorry, not trying to be an A$$, but i DO trust you guys for info)

i'd like to get it right the first time and not take a wild guess and hope for the best... then have to live with it... (or waste the time and $ on trial and error)
when SOMEONE has done it.....

I hear WOL has a stick and 37's... busy as he is... i bet he's got the skinny on what i'm lookin at.

...then i can get out with the local SoCal bunch and enjoy all the AWESOME places there are to go around here...

PLUS... if i find out what i want for sure... i can get it as Christmas for "me"...

Santa owes me some real goodies... i've been good.

Here are charts for a 6-speed tranny and 37's. Merry Christmas.

All RPM's are in 6th gear

4.88's with 37" tires
55 MPH = 1811 RPM
60 MPH = 2234 RPM
65 MPH = 2420 RPM
70 MPH = 2606 RPM
75 MPH = 2792 RPM
80 MPH = 2978 RPM

5.13's with 37" tires
55 MPH = 1904 RPM
60 MPH = 2348 RPM
65 MPH = 2544 RPM
70 MPH = 2739 RPM
75 MPH = 2935 RPM
80 MPH = 3131 RPM

Other way around. The steeper the R&P ratio, the more teeth the ring gear has, the less teeth the pinion has. There is no differnce in ring gear "thickness" as you go up or down in ratio. Some of you were right, it does get weaker the steeper you go, due to the number of teeth in contact at any given time, BUT it is definatly not because "thickness" changes. I really wouldn't be worried about it unless you go over 5.38's IMO, but, obviously, such steep gears aren't out there for us, yet.

as its been said before, which gears to go with should be based on how you will be driving it. you could run 37's with the stock 4.10's but starting off would be like a turtle and you wouldn't have a lot of power when in the mountains. but your highway milage would insane. with 5.13's you would have more power to the wheels all around, but at the cost of fuel. the 4.88 would be slightly more powerful then stock with the 37's.

with 35's, the 5.13 gears are really peppy, but even more costly on fuel. if i got 35's, i'd deal with the slight loss of power and stay with the 4.10's, or maybe get the 4.88's if i was going to be towing.

its all a question of do you care about fuel really? if not, then gear up and get more power, otherwise deal with the cut in power, but more money in your wallet.

btw, shockworks made a nice excel sheet with the gears and stuff. you can plug your tire size in and gear ratio and see the RPMs your self.

cant find the link for it and it won't let me attach the file to the post... i'll have to look around more for the link again unless someone else has it?
