Default what fits???

35's with 3" that is rad but will I have to ditch the factory X wheels? Also how big can the spare be on the stock carrier? I want 35x12.5 on my new X but it comes with 16x7 wheels, are they wide enough for a 12.5?
PS: I don't know crap about back spaceing.

Most likely, yes, you will have to ditch them if you want to fit 35x12.50's. The factory X wheels are 16x7 - 5x5 bolt pattern and most likely have 5.5" of backspacing. The problem is the width of the wheels are too narrow for such a wide tire and the back spacing is most likely too much too (I don't know this for sure yet).

According to Quadratec's website, these are all the wheels they carry that will fit a JK. For your needs, you will want a set that are 16 or 17x8 and if possible, I would recommend 4.5" or back spacing or less. You might be able to get away with more back spacing but until we can do some kind of test fit, it'll be hard to say for sure.

7" rim is not too narrow. if you do a lot of airing down, then it is perfect. You won't lose a bead. You can also get wheel spacers so the wheels don't rub.

You're absolutely right. IF you do a lot of airing down, a 7" wheel is very good size as it will in fact hold the tire bead well at low pressures. But, for street driving, I have found that you would either need to run your tires at much lower psi to in order to keep the foot print of the tread making good flat contact or, be cool with the center of of your tread wearing out prematurely. But, that's just based on my personal experience.

I ran 305/70/16's on a 7" wheel. These are 12" wide. Wore them all the way down and they did well. A 35" tall metric tire in a 16" rim is usually 315x75/16 which is ~ 12.5" wide.

I think you'll be fine. Just watch your pressure and wear pattern.

You'll need spacers. You can get a set of steel wheels for less or = $ to spacers if you like that look....and then you can get whatever size wheel you want.

I saw the Hutchinson wheels on a JK in a Burbank, CA parking lot. Nice looking wheels but when I looked at them closer I saw where the bolts caught a rock ( or maybe a curb ). It seems to me that you could really tear up your wheel bad if you didn't have a spotter. I saw other beadlocks on another jeep
with a big ring that covered the bolts. Didn't know at the time what the ring was for but I do now!

I've got a set of 17x7.5" Jeep Commander Hulk wheels that I mounted 315/70/17 Hankook RT03 MT's on, they fit on the rims great.

As far as running lower pressure on the street for even wear, that's a great tip. Keep the tires rotated well and air presure checked and you'll be good to go. Here are a few pics of my tires/wheels.

Redrock- (Not trying to hijack the thread, but...) I just noticed that your Hankooks have holes for studs. Mine are the same size and don't have them. I wonder what's up with that.
