Weight? Ever too much
Alright so here is my problem. I replaced both bumpers with heavy steel bumpers, added rock sliders and a warn powerplant. (as well as small weight additions like tuffy console and glove box). I now want to add the rockhard skid system but I read it weights well over 200 pounds. Is there a point where you add too much weight. Should I be making any upgrades first? (my concern is both suspension and power from the engine)
Thanks,
Dan

I am sorry I am not familiar with much suspension alteration. When you say alter springs how would I go about doing this. Swamping them out with HD Springs or is this a tuning issue.

Weight matters. As weight goes up, obviously performance suffers. What most drivers miss is that added weight must be supported by additional powertrain upgrades to handle the additional stress.
I too have added steel bumpers front and back as I consider those nessasary to support mandatory equipment such as winches and a spare tire. Given that, Additional addons will have to merit the additional weight as I increase the stress of parts like u-joints, axles and what not.
I would much rather spend money on upgrades and not repairs.

I have decided that it is the only way to go, I really spend little time over 65-70 for 95+% of my use.
What is a 3-4 hour run down the interstate in a very heavy 2 door 6-speed with 5.13s and 35" mud tires like?
Also, with 5.13 gears there would be little reason to go for an Atlas with the Rubicon transfer case.

She is solid and good as long as the tires are balanced properly and your suspension is correct. I have up to 80 without any problems. with the gears and tires @72 MPH she is doing 3000 RPM in 6th gear. The gears give her lots of punch off the line.

regearing seems like a pretty logical solution to getting a bigger body in motion...
what about stopping? anyone feeling underpowered in the brake department when running their 35s, 37's & beyond with all the mass in motion?
