Weighed my JK

as far as weight goes, you really can't have too much down low or, at least when it comes to playing on the rocks. unsprung weight like heavy axles, wheels and tires are a good thing. anything above will cause your lift to loose its height and of course, that can be a problem. the higher you go like doors, hard tops, gear and roof racks are all a liability as they will make you top heavy and unstable.

seriously, while a reduction of mpg isn't fun, it's hardly what i would consider something you can really worry about. every pound you put on is a drag on your mpg and if you're building up your jeep, there's no way you can prevent it. however, when it comes to wheeling, weight and where it's located is something that you should be concerned with and something you can address - or, at least to a degree.

I agree, but the majority of the people that are on the forum can't afford to own a dedicated jeep for wheeling. They drive it everyday, and play on the weekend.
The OP is asking for an answer to a question. A quick use of the search function shows that there are literally hundreds of posts on here regarding fuel consumption.
I think that for the majority of the users on here, mpg IS something that they worry about.
For someone who is on the rocks all the time, and driving a pretty dedicated rig, you are right, who cares about the weight. Hell, I have seen some guys put water in thier tires for more weight down low.

as far as the OP goes, you really need to get your eyes checked as HE NEVER ASKED A QUESTION and certainly not one in regards to mpg. if anything, he was making a point about the v6 not having enough hp do push his rig along. as far as everyone else goes on this thread, i don't recall a single person worring about or asking about mpg

Hey WOL, after we had burgers and you told me the weight thing I just got curious. Scale was open and they charged $4.00. I thought what the hell. Anyway I would love a hemi don't get me wrong. But I'm going to keep the V6 for now. My pockets are empty from the last time it was at Mel's. Karen got me seats for my birthday. I think after she heard you got heated one's, I'm all in! Back on topic though, that's friggin heavy. Also no Jeepers for me. Barrett!

May be a dumb question but I've been wondering how heavy my jeep is after all my mods. Where can somebody go and have there jeep weighed? I've always thought about pulling off onto one of those weight stations off the freeway when you enter a different state but I'm sure those guys would look at me like an idiot and tell me those are for semi's only or something.

Cool, thanks WOL. We have a few Flying J's here so I'll have to stop by one and ask next time I pass.
