Question which way to go

Greetings one and all,

I've been reading threads for days now and am more confused then ever input overload.
I want to start going trailing and want to buy some new gear.

1. If I have a winch set up do you still buy a hilift jack as a back up ?
2. Won't need new tires for a couple of years..So do I need new springs for the bumper and winch or just go with BB or teraflex set up ? this is my DD and will only be doing basic trails until I: learn more skills. Like the mid length bumper set ups from lod and shrockworks. As far as a winch set up looking for good mid priced winch. Have a total of $3000.00 to spend.
So what say you one and all Help this newbie out.
Thanks in advance

1. Don't forget the jack has more uses than just as a come-a-long. It's a jack first and foremost and can help you lift up your Jeep to change tires, put rocks under the tires, whatever.

2. If you aren't getting tires for a while, I'd consider just getting a TF leveling kit to help level out the effects of the bumper and winch.

3. That three grand could get you set up with a great winch, bumper, on-board air and a good recovery kit (including a hi-lift and fire extinguisher). You would be pretty well setup at that point. Maybe throw a cb into the mix too.

I'd go with the 2.5 coil kit. Bumper/winch will cause the the stock springs to sag over a period of time with a leveling kit/BB.

Default Do everything once.

If your getting new tires down the road I wouldn't bother with a lift. Maybe a leveling kit if you want some more distance between you and the trail perhaps the Teraflex leveling kit with quick disconnect hardware(very good bang for the buck I would think way cheaper then the Budget Boost). I pesonally love the look of the rugged ridge XHD bumper and then you have endless possibilities to add on later to it. I would go for the warn m8000 seems to be another good bang for the buck mod. Then like Pluke the 2 said wheel that and see what tires you plan on going to and go from there. Depending on trails maybe a evap skid and oil pan skid might be nice. Good luck with the build.

I'd just like to throw my 2-cents in the mix...

Why do you need to rush out and buy a winch? Sure they look great, sure their useful... but you're just starting out. And heck, rule one is "never go alone"... you're not planning on wheeling alone are ya?

I'd imagine the money spent on the bumper and winch could be better spent on things to keep you from getting stuck in the first place (i.e., lift, tires, lockers, etc). Buy a tow strap, a tree saver, and a come-along and/or a hi-lift. Wheel with friends, and you'll be set.

Again, just my 2-cents

Recovery (Hi-Lift with all the goodies, winch, tools, etc.), armor (evap skid or relo kit, oil pan skid, rock sliders), and mud terrains. Then see how you like it; what it doesn't do that you need it to.

A set of #18 Rubicon front springs will probably level you out after the winch install for about $80 new.
