Default Warn M8000-s winch

Seems like I keep seeing folks posting that they bought the M8000 Warn winch for ~$500.00 or so and when I look around they list for a about a grand. Are there different ones or is ~$500.00 the going sale price?

Go to Google Shopping and enter warn m8000. It will say that the lowest price is $541. However, when you click for the results, you'll see that the $541 has a $135 shipping fee. However, if you sort by total price, you'll see a site selling for $562 with free shipping and no tax. These prices are current as of Aug 28, 2012. If you watch over a period of time, you'll see the prices will vary, and occasionally Warn will have rebates available. I managed to score an M8000 last year when Warn was offering an $80 rebate. At the time, I found that Northridge had the cheapest price, plus free shipping, and no tax. Altogether, shipped to my door for $450 after rebate. If you're not in a hurry, my advice would be to watch Google Shopping or Amazon or any of the forum vendors for prices over the course of several months. And if you can wait till Black Friday, might be able to score a sale or big discount.

Oops, sorry, just saw your title again. There is a M8000 that comes with a cable (priced around $500) and an M8000-s that comes with synthetic line (priced closer to $1000). If you don't absolutely need synthetic now, go with the cable as you can always changed to synthetic later.

Yes, I got the M8000 for $530 a year ago from Northridge. Prices vary over time and across vendors. I watched prices and different vendors for months. Probably at least 6 months. And then Warn was offering rebates at the time. Not sure if they have any now. If I were shopping for winches again, I'd start watching now and wait until Black Friday to see what happens.

Also, comparison shop between winches at the 8000 lb mark. Compare line speeds, etc. Maybe there's another winch for less that's suitable.

Default Selling my XD9000i (9000lb) $500 w/o controller

I have a hardly used WARN XD9000i winch and plate that was previously on my 2001 Sahara before getting a 2012 JK. The plate itself can be interchanged and the exterior of the winch may need a few touch-up's with paint (if you care about that). Anyways, i misplaced the cable so you will need to order a new one from WARN which isn't bad. You can get all replacement parts through them. The solonoids for the controller are in good shape. Orginally a 1,000-1,200 package. Let me know if interested. Will potentially ship if necessary (currently live in Boston, MA). Pictures are attached.
