I had one on my TJ for 3 years and it never failed me. IMO it's the best mix of value and dependability out there. Superwinch makes some that are close but I like the M8000 the best.

I have the M8000. Great winch, have used it several times without any problems.
The solenoid leads are long enough to place the solenoid box behind the grill in front off the radiator, that is, if you don't like the looks of the solenoid box on top of the winch. You will have to extend the ground wire a little bit.

I put the box up high to keep it out of the mud and snow. There are alot of deep puddles around here and the snow gets real deep as well.
Just trying to keep it as dry as possible

Isnt the m8000 like $550 brand new? I think you were looking at the wrong winch for $1300.
But your still ahead of the game if you spent $400...kinda steep from the way it looks but...
that winch is the work horse of all winches IMHO. Its tried and true through the years
