I had one on my TJ for 3 years and it never failed me. IMO it's the best mix of value and dependability out there. Superwinch makes some that are close but I like the M8000 the best.

No need to mount on top of the winch. I made a L-bracket from a piece of aluminum plate, painted it flat black, and bolted it to the mount plate. Been like that for 2 years. No probs to date

I put the box up high to keep it out of the mud and snow. There are alot of deep puddles around here and the snow gets real deep as well.
Just trying to keep it as dry as possible

that winch is the work horse of all winches IMHO. Its tried and true through the years
