Made by CN Winch in China. The same company that makes most of the other brands. I plan on buying the 10k when I get my bumper.

i suppose you could by two if one breaks you will still be ahead. My recomendation is to do some winch research there is a lot of info you are missing line pull duty cycle speed gear ratio, i got my warn 8k for 450 shipped, i would trust warn or one of the other brands more than an ebay winch, but I also heard the HF (chicago electric)winches did really well in a side by side with the big guys but what do i know good luck.

Warn was having a big sale on their 8k's about 6 months ago at almost all locations, I think they have gone up now though.

yeah i got mine at 4wheel parts, but i think 499 is pretty standard, it is a great winch not a compitition winch or anything, but very hearty

same exact winch as the gorilla winches. I have the 10k gorilla and only problem i had was the out silenoid sticking. ive since replaced it and works great. a friend i go mud riding with pretty regularly bought a tabor 9k and the gorilla is clearly a more powerfull winch under load. I say go for it. i use mine atleast 5 times a month going on 5 months now and its still kicking.
