If I had an engine using a quart of oil every 1000 miles, and it had less that 120k miles on it....I would be searching for the problem.

No way that is normal on modern engines, IMO.

I had a really bad oil usage problem. Like a few quarts in a couple thousand miles. Enough to turn the oil light on on the dash! I couldn't find it anywhere. I did a little searching and there is a TSB out on the 07's about the timing cover porosity being bad as a result of a bad casting, causing the oil to leak out. I took it to the dealer with a printed copy of the TSB, they got it fixed under warranty, and it's been perfect since. I will not that the problem wasn't really apparent until about 26,000 miles.

Unfortunately it seems to be fairly common with Mopar engines

Sigh...that sucks...but I did not have the patience to try putting an LS engine in.

Hopefully by the time mine starts using oil someone will have the conversion process ironed out.
