Vented hood
#13
I've been eyeballing the Poison Spyder louvered hood vent. It's only about 120 vs 1200 and I believe will still do as good or better at letting heat out of the engine bay and I think it looks bad a$$ too! I do like the AEV hoods, they are just so dang expensive and I have other places to throw 1200 bucks... lockers, adjustable control arms, ect... just my 2 cents! Do what you feel, its your rig!

I'd stay color matched with your Jeep. Black hood on a red jeep would look the same as if you had one black door or something. Like you were doing piecemeal repairs and hadnt got around to painting it yet.
Just my 2 cents though...

Thanks everyone for the input!
I really like the AEV vented hoods but I'm thinking of going with the Poison Spyder. I like the way it looks but it's mainly about the price, I still need to buy a bumper!...

Smart move! I love the PS hood louver. It will give you want you want with the black look also and at a fraction of the cost.

Including paint, yeah. Unpainted and just with gel coating to make it ready for paint, it's $800.
They're heavier duty material than the factory hood, too, plus the vents really do expel quite a bit more heat from the engine bay. Love mine!
IMHO....yes...stick to body color and paint the vents a different color for contract. Either black, or if you really want them to stick out, silver.
