Default Vented hood

So I've been looking at the AEV vented hoods.

I have a 2012 Rubicon (red rock) but I'm thinking of getting the black vented hood. It might be awesome but still not sure how it would look.

Any thoughts?

Did they have red rock in 2012?? I have a 07 red rock. Didn't know they made colors for that long. Anyways I am going with the red rock and black combo and it looks great so far

Black hoods on a non black cars brings me back to my tuner days when enthusiasts would put carbon fiber hoods on their sport cars. They did look good in an application like that though.

With that said, IMHO I think on a jeep, a mismatched hood will look like you found a replacement body part and never got around to painting it. I know what you are going for, and I like it, but I think it will only work if you had a white or gray jeep.

I'm only going by my imagination here so take it with a grain of salt if you please. Plus, its YOUR jeep! Do what you want

For what it's worth... The AEV hoods are awesome. Stick with your body color. The black venting will kick off on the red hood. But to each his own.

JeepHeap, how does the line-x wash up? Does the dust/mud come off easily or do you need a brush to get it out of the texture? Does the black stay black or lighten in color with dirt? My stock fenders are always needing black magic to keep them black. Looks awesome!

IMHO it would have to be a flat or matte black NOT a shiny factory black. Only way it may work and then Please don't paint vent inserts body color... just way to matchy, matchy effort.

ctd1077,

What is the main function/selling point that you are looking for out of a vented hood?
