Welp, my 3.6 pentastar blew/locked up at 81k miles. It had overheated at 55k miles and I limped it home, it gave me problems ever since. I’m surprised it lasted this long tbh.
Does anybody know a shop that does swaps, whether it’s a hemi or an LS, and either maintains the stock manual tranny or installs another manual tranny?

Guys have put V8's against the Jeep tranny but they are not rated for the 8 and you know when you put more power in you just have to show that guy next to you at the light so life of the box will be relatively short. One guy on the forum here has done it but to what success I do not know. There are conversions out there and self installed ones as a sticky on the Modified section. But beware it is a huge undertaking and be prepared to iron out bugs. If I was you the best route is rebuild yours or get a donor from a wrecker.

That's a shame your Pentastar didn't hold up. There are a ton of shops that do those, but it will likely cost close to what you could just buy a new Jeep for when all said and done. I wouldn't mind dropping a 6.0 Ls in mine down the road, and have also wondered how well that motor would pair up to the 6 speed manual.

LS and manual in a jeep really dont mix... theres a reason they're not popular, not easy to do, not alot of 'support' and expensive.. if you want a manual.... hemi platform with the getrag 238 is and has been the go to in the JK..

Thanks, redrock. Do you know of a shop that does those swaps?

The 238 as Redrock suggested will work and has a 4.27 1st gear ratio, so is pretty good for a Jeep. I believe it also is easy to adapt to the Jeep TCase. Not sure if physical size will cause you to have to modify the floor hump though. That gearbox would make me want to simply go with a Hemi engine as opposed to LT or LS.

no floor mods with the 238, it actually has [2] tower locations. just move the shifter tower and it lines up in the hole in the tub.
i do them... and actually have a 238 sitting in the storage trailer...![Wink](https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/images/smilies/wink1.gif)
T case will be reused...
