Default V8 Swap

I found a 4.7L V8 out of a Dodge Dakota and was wondering if it will fit for one and if there is a kit out there for the swap. Also does anyone think it would even be worth it? Because i have wondered why jeep hasnt put the 4.7 in the jeep in the first place? any suggestions would be awesome... Merry Christmas and happy new years fellow jeepers

I haven't seen much in the way of parts and or tech support for the 4.7. Everyone is pretty much doing a Hemi or LS engine.

yea thats what i thought...i didnt know if the 4.7 would even be worth the time and effort to swap out. but it has to be just alittle bit better than my 3.8 in the horse power department....but maybe im wrong

Mounting is probably nearly identical to a hemi. And power is likely bounds better than the 3.8. Plus it might be the fuel efficiency grey area that would provide the best balance between 3.8 and hemi.

If you're getting it cheap enought I'd rebuild it (looking for any areas of improvement such as porting and internal modification ie cam) and go for it. Be a bit different. But thats me.

yea i found the motor and trans on craigslist out of an old dakota that had been wreaked. The guy said it had been rebuilt about 4k miles ago and the trans about 1k and all she wanted was $2,000 for the whole truck. but thats what i was thinking along the lines of not really needing a Hemi (although id love to have it) but wanting a whole lot more than the "3.slow"

You will not be happy with the 4.7 after all the money and work to get it done you will have almost the amount of money into that as you would a HEMI swap or even better an LS!!!

i used to have a v8 dakota. good torque (300+) but there is very little upgrades. if you want a dakota v8 look for the 5.9 (old 360) it has much more potential. also mpg was poor. i would pass and go another route. but good luck if you decide to do it.
