Default V8 Engine Swap

Has anyone ever considered a V8 engine swap? I have a 4 door "07 JK and I put on about 150 miles a day round trip back and forth to work. So I am now sitting at 175,000 miles. I wouldn't mind looking into a small block V8 but I want to keep a standard transmission. Does this sound feasible? I know my way around the garage but I wouldn't consider myself a wrench. So I don't know that I would tackle it but might hire it out.

Have you ever seen a V8 swapped into a JK?

Only when I open my eyes.

Not to sound like a smartass like the other 2, but YES it has been done. Everyday someone drops a hemi in their Jeep.

It costs from $6500-$20,000.

Thanks. Maybe I didn't word it correctly so I probably deserved some smart ass comments. I am sure there have been many V8 engine swaps. I was really just looking for suggestions concerning what engine would make the most sense and what would be a suitable transmission (standard) for said engine. Any information would be appreciated.

Maybe this will help you out: http://www.burnsvilleoffroad.com/

They are a sponsor here and know a thing or two about dropping V8's into Jeeps. Also, depending on your state's motor vehicle laws and whether you want to completely abandon your computer, you may or may not have some non-Chrysler V8 options.

River raider is starting to do diesel swaps, seems like a better deal to me.
