Default Used Suspensions...Yea or Nay?

In general, are used suspensions a good bet? I don't mind used parts - have some on my heep. Just wondering if suspensions are better off new.

Granted any transaction is a 'it depends...' scenario but I'm talking general experiences from the membership.

Thanks in advance.

In general go new if you can. That being said, when I was younger, I bought used suspension/shock parts and had no issues on YJ's/TJ's.

Absolutely! Done it a couple times. Just make sure to get info about how many miles, etc are on them.

Have a good look at the welds and bushings if you go used.

Used could mean used for 5 miles or 50,000+ miles. I'll let the mileage heavily influence my decision.

Thanks for the replies. The setup I'm looking at is a used AEV DualSport 2.5" w/ Bilsteins. 7k miles on it and the pricepoint is about half of new. Everything looks pretty clean in the pics.

Been saving for the new set so when I saw this I kinda perked up.

I bought and installed a used 2.5" Rough Country lift off a 4 door and put it on my 2 door. It included the RC shocks. I have no idea how many miles were on it, I do know it was wheeled. I got 3.5" of lift and it was solid both on the highway and on the trail. I think you will be fine with that lift used.

i think it really depends on the miles and condition, like every one else said. Most suspension only have so long of a warranty so i would also consider that as well.
