Used Axle Swap

Used Axle Swap
I have a buddy with a 2007 JK with standard non-Rubicon Dana 44 rear/ Dana 30 front with factory 4.10 gears and about 80,000 miles. I have a 2012 JK Sport 6-speed with 3.21 gears. My friend has his hands on some upgraded axles that he is going to put on his Jeep, and his will be available following this swap.
I have been contemplating jumping to 4.10 for my Jeep (and I have researched this extensively, so please no "Why not 4.56?" comments! ). My question is, Am I crazy for removing my one-year-old axles and putting his under my Jeep. Is there anything wrong with doing this? Seems to me that axles/ gears/ etc typically outlast the vehicle, and there shouldn't be much of an issue with this swap. I have personally driven the donor Jeep, and I know for a fact it has not been wheeled hard. Price we were talking about is around $500, so it'd be significantly cheaper than a regear.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

As long as he kept up on maintenance I wouldn't hesitate to do it. You should be able to sell your axles for enough to recoup the money on the axles.
Obviously ensure the axle isn't bent anywhere and consider putting a truss on the axle while it is out of the vehicle if you plan on going to larger tires in the future.
I may even swap out bj's and u-joints depending on the mileage.

No issues its a nice upgrade. I swapped rubi axles in a few weeks ago with 4:10s from my 3:21 and I'm a 6sp as well...running 37s no issues still a lot faster than my 4dr auto on 37s with 5:13s was...
I'll be doing 5:13s soon but no issies with the 4:10 very nice improvement you'll be happy....

Unless Chrysler changed the style of their ball joints,i would'nt bother pulling them out but rather get some aftermarket ones.Change out the axle shaft u-joints,maybe even do pinion seal and inner axle seal too.If future up grades include larger tires gusset your C's while out
