Default Upgraded bumpers this week.

After a month of looking for new bumpers I decided on The Smittybilt M.O.D. front bumper with the X20 10,000 lb winch and the ACE Pro Series Rear Bumper with Tire Carrier. I did have some trouble installing both bumpers. The only problem I had with Ace rear bumper was on the passenger side where the bumper slides up into the Jeep frame it was hitting on a dimple that was on the frame. I couldn't get inside the frame to grind it down so I had to grind down on the part of the bumper frame that goes it to the jeep frame. A little primer and all was good. I also went with the lights for the bumper, a real tight fit trying to get the nuts on the bolts. Besides the two little hick-ups I am really happy with the bumper. Tire is a nice tight fit no rattle what so ever. Now for the pain in my a$$, Smittybilt. Now for the problems, Instructions say to drill out 2 holes on the frame to 1/2 inch, nope had to drill them out to 5/8. 2 holes on the inside of the bumper would not line up, 1 hole on each of the end plates would not line up, all the welded nuts had to be tapped out. I called the company I ordered the bumper from and asked if the lights that came with the end plates could be spliced into the factory harness with out any problem The reply "I don't know". Supply wiring harness could be about another foot longer. The switch for the lights was broken. The winch has 2 little brackets that mount the little power box to the top of the winch ( if you decide to mount it that way) that are about 1/8 to short, holes wont line up for the bolts. My over all thought on the bumpers, ACE, I would buy again not a second thought. Smittybilt I would think real hard about buying again.
