Default Universal Fit Seat Install?

I am looking at getting two universal fit bucket seats for the jeep. I found a great deal on them. I was looking into it and its hard to say whether i can or cant. some people are saying you shouldn't unplug the weight sensors or airbag plug (whatever is under the seat) but some people are also saying its not a problem at all. Some say ill have a code that wont go away unless i got to the dealership and some say it will go away if i plug it back in. Some say my airbag will go off some say it wont. I really just need to know if i can unplug both of those wires underneath the seat and install the new seats and leave them unplugged and tucked away as the universal ones have no plugs... Has anyone done this or tried?

I'd unplug them and drive around to see what happens. Seems like the common sense approach. If all hell breaks loose, stop and plug them back in.

I know there are a ton of after market seats out there. I don't imagine most of them have plugs for the seat belt or airbag sensors. I'd poke around Quadratech or 4wd.com for installation instructions.

yeha i will continue to look. i looked at a few and they all had the plugs. The ones that did were like 400 bucks a seat though the universal ones are far less but have no plugs. I will just buy the seats and try it out and let everyone know. ill just wear a helmet when unplugging all of the wires

Disconnect your battery before you
Unplug your seats. I read that you should do that AFTER I had already unplugged mine. The air bag did not deploy.

I did have the air bag and seat belt light come on. When I applied the brakes my parking lights came on as well.

This weekend after my monstaliner project was done I disconnected the battery (both terminals) and waited 15 minutes. I then reinstalled the seats plugged everything back in and reconnected my battery. Everything was back to normal.
