Mine does the same thing. When, I see wear marks on the tail gate or you hear back from the Tuffy teck with a solution I will look into it.

I also upgraded mine with security bolts. Mainly, because there is only one bolt on each side of the top that holds the whole lid in the tub. I have not decided whether or not to drill holes into the wheel wheels for the other two bolts on each side. But, came up with adj. brackets that help hold the security deck in and two brackets on the front, that go under the back seat brackets. It will take some VERY determind crooks to get in it.
