Default Tuffy Security Deck Install Fit Issue... Anyone seen this? *Now with Video*

I've installed the Tuffy Security Deck on my 2011 JKU. It's a really well made, solid piece...

I've got a fit issue however, with the rear window "bar" (I'm sure there's a name for the removable bar at the bottom of the soft top rear window...)

To get the right side of the bar to seat properly in the plastic clip, I have to push down on the security deck, right above the subwoofer. Then, I have to very firmly slam the door to get it to close properly.

Anyone else seen this? Is there something I can bend, etc to help the rear door/bar fitment?

I've adjusted the deck's brackets to push the deck as far into the Jeep's trunk as I can.

I can post up pictures tomorrow in the light if that helps. Thanks!

A pic would help. I installed mine last year on my 2010 JKU with no problems. I'll try to take a look at it again in the morning and see if there's anything obvious that might cause your problem.

2010 Deck is totally different, and to be honest, a much cleaner install than the 2011.

If it were my issue, I would try loosening the mounting bolts on the passenger side with the bar in place, and see if things line up better, and then re-tighten them.

Default Yep, totally different beast from the 07-10 deck.

Hmm, I don't think I tried just the passenger side, but I do think it's as far back as it can go. I'll give it a whirl.

I had the same issue with mine... what i did was trim the soft part of the rubber edging off and shortend it just past the hump of the cargo door (I noticed that the soft part would stick the bottom of the door and roll under the hard rubber). I then used the felt side of velcro tape to cover the lid that did not have rubber.

Hope that helps....

Cheers!

It may be more of a twisted up issue than a back to front issue...

If that doesn't work, I would remove the panel behind the seats for access purposes, loosen everything and put the bar in and shut the door, then re-tighten everything with door closed.

Good luck!

Good call, I can try that as well. I actually called Tuffy's tech support and sent them my video. The guy was going to take it and show it to their engineering folks and call me back... We shall see....

Default Ok, so I've found a workaround to the problem...

I pulled off the last 6 inches of the rubber on the edge of the deck on the hinge side.

Door closes no problem now.

So now I just have to figure out if the deck is going to scratch the door without that rubber installed.
