get the olympic reverse-a bars. mount them downward for now so it sits low enough for her to get in. then in nine months, mount them upwards! good compromise for both of u i think!

What about the High Rock 4x4 Slider Step from Bestop. You can pull it out for your wife, and push it in for off road.

off road that thing is still going to get in the way and it doesnt look like it can take a hit.

anyone have those olypic rectangular ones that slide in and out? they look a little strong than the 3" tube nerfs

I just put the Rock Hards http://www.quadratec.com/products/12065_2001.htm on my 4dr and they are great (though a little pricey). I actually like them better than the factory Rubi rails. They protect more area and have a 4" step for your wife.

Remember, if you're doing at the wife's request, you can spend whatever you want.

whatever you do - echoing a previous comment - a step is a step and a rocker guard is a rocker guard. Any effective guard on your set up will effectively be too high to use as a step and any step will hang low, and potentially get you hung up.

Not seen anyone with a retractable solution yet, you could try that or just do what the rest of us do and carry a mounting block . Its the polite thing to do
