trying to get larger tires and installers won't put on
tried getting larger tires installed , just 285/70/17 and the tire dealer would not put them on because they were larger then the oem ones which are 255/75/17. said that check engine light, abs sytem, esp would be affected is this truly a problem or not. I know it will mess up the mph. thanks

This tire shop wouldn't happen to be Cosco, would it? They won't put anything on a jeep unless it's OEM specs which means that they wouldn't put anything larger than 225/75/16 on my X. So, I went to discount tire and they had no problem whatsoever putting 35s on. I had even bought the 35s second hand from CL. Interestingly, Costco did not have a problem mounting 35 on the spare rim that I brought them My advice is to try discount tire if you have a shop in your area or just take the wheels in.
