Trektop wind noise

Trektop wind noise
Well I took the chance and purchased a Bestop Trektop and I really like it. Very simple, but a pain to put back on until you learn the hard way exactly what steps(in order) to take to get it back on.
The top is silent on the road with the exception of wind noise in the drivers side corner. I have taken the top off and put it back on and the wind noise is always in the same spot. Surprisingly there is no noise from the passenger side.
I have read other posts stating that they had a similar issue and fixed it with a few dollars worth of weather stripping. Can someone tell me (picture would help...) where exactly the weather stripping is needed???
Other than this I love the top.

Dan:
I just got my new trektop 3 days ago. I have THE SAME ISSUE! I dont have a remedy for you, but your not alone. For the most part, I like the looks of it, however, you are right.....it is a Pain in the A** to put on and off. My door frames had to be tweeked alittle and the fit and finish is mediocre at best.
If someone could make a fastback top with the fit and finish of the ORH or California top and the delivery time and customer support of Bestop, THEY WOULD BE RICH!!. For me the verdict is still out on the Bestop.

I know I have seen posts from others on here that have this top and they added a few $$$ of weather stripping to stop the noise, just need to know where to put the weather stripping... I would hate to return it.

If you don't install the header correctly, the corners will not seal and you will get a great deal of noise. In short, it's not the top as much as the impatience of the owner.

Just kidding... I kinda feel the same way, but I really like the look of my Trektop so much better than most other tops out there.
What Widewing said about the header is definitely true - as far as I can tell if you get it as far forward as possible, the wind noise drops quite a bit. Still a little loud IMO, but at least more tolerable. And yes, it's still a pain in the arse, but whadda ya gonna do? I asked Bestop if they thought of using a latch more like the oem, but they said been there - done that - leaked like hell.
I'd still like to know where others have been installing the extra weatherstripping though. If I could knock a few more db's off the wind noise, life would be good.

Your right WIDEWING, patience is important. I worked on that header for several days adjusting it to many times too list. I can live with some wind noise, heck, its a soft top on a jeep, not my first go around. You ever see the scene from dumb and dumber (most anoying sound in the world). Its kinda like that. And no matter how I adjusted it, you could see daylight on the upper corner of the drivers side door.
