transfer case help!!
Im in the garage right now doing some maintenance on the jeep and grabbed the rear drive shaft to check u joints and such. I noticed the output yoke on the transfer case for the rear driveshaft has some in and out play in it. maybe 1/16 or an 1/8 inch, is this normal i dont seem to remember this last time i checked it. I already pulled the rear shaft and retorqued the yoke and still has the same play. thanks

I just changed out my rear drive shaft with a coast. When installing the yoke on the tcase mine also had a slight play. I retorqued everything and it was still there. Not sure if his normal but it seems to fine.

I noticed the same thing when I installed a new yoke and rear driveshaft over a year ago. I too thought it was odd although not surprising. Checked on a couple of forums and with a local shop. I found out that it's normal for the JK's output shaft. Been over a year of road miles and wheeling and I have no leaks or vibration with front and rear double cardan shafts, 4" lift, and 35s.

I guess im just paranoid after seeing these t-cases exploded on here. I also noticed a ticking when coasting in 6th gear and i kind of got the same ticking when spinning the output shaft with the driveshaft off. not sure if they are related or not.
