Default Transfer case front output shaft seal leaking

Posted over at JKO, but figured I'd ask here too just incase.

Today, I pulled my front drive shaft today to replace the front u-joint on it. It had been making a chirping / squeaking noise so I figured I'd take the 15 minutes and swap it out.

What I saw on my transfer case worried me. It looks like the out put shaft seal is leaking. I pulled the yoke to make sure it wasn't leaking past the splines, but the inside of the yoke was dry. So guess that leaves the seal.

I did some searching and I couldn't find anyone who has done a write up on how to replace the front output shaft seal yet. It looks simple enough, just pry the old seal out and press in a new one. What I don't know, is how to hammer or press the new seal in. There's not a lot of room when the transfer case mounted (as I'd rather not pull it out completely), so swinging a hammer doesn't look like it'll fit.

Are there any special tools or tricks for replacing the seal?

Here's a picture of the leak.

No experience with this particular seal but every other seal I've installed never required any heavy hammering. I usually used a smaller ball peen and more or less tapped it in gradually.

Never done one but thinking, short piece of pipe over shaft then large washer and put nut on and tighten to press seal in place. iDK...
