There are other benefits for not having that big tire hanging of the back like redued weight and if you wheel it gives you more clearance and vision when backing up and removes the risk of hitting the tire when coming off a ledge as the rear drops down. I have on board air and carry a plug kit most of the time. If I am going to do some serious wheeling then I trow the spare in the back.

That makes sense. I am a virgin when it comes wheeling, well mostly, so its cool learning and not being berated for asking questions! Thanks!
